As one of the oldest communities along the eastern coast and New Jersey, the borough of Paramus enjoys an illustrious history that officially began in 1922, but whose settlers and residents enjoyed the nature, wildlife and peaceful community since the 1700s. One of the most popular cemeteries in the area, George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery was established in 1939 and is located close to where General George Washington and his men quartered during the American Revolution, hence its name.
