Mount Olivet Cemetery

As one of the most beautifully designed cemeteries in the Nashville, Tennessee area, Mt. Olivet serves a community founded in history and tradition well into the 21st century. Offering multi-denomination services and options for all demographic groups, Mt. Olivet offers traditional burial services, cremations, entombments and memorials for area residents of Nashville and surrounding rural communities.

Mt. Olivet has served the needs of Nashville since 1856 and continues to take pride in their staff's ability to offer compassionate service to all who walk through her doors. Mt. Olivet is the home of famous area residents, statesmen and soldiers who have fought in the War Between the States, World War One, World War Two and more recent conflicts such as Korea, Vietnam and the Gulf Wars. The grounds offer a memorial (Confederate Circle) to Confederate soldiers as well as a chapel and mausoleum to remember all soldiers and civilians who have fought for and believed in basic American rights and privileges.

The sprawling, rolling lawns of Mt. Olivet offer visitors and loved ones a comforting sense of seclusion and solitude, though the cemetery is only moments from downtown Nashville and the Nashville Metropolitan Airport. Majestic and well groomed trees, lawns and landscaping offer a beautiful respite for weary and bereaved travelers, and benches scattered throughout the property offer sanctuary and rest for those strolling among the hundreds of historical headstones throughout the grounds.

Mt. Olivet is privileged to be on the American Roster of Historic Places and is the final resting place of Astronomer Edward Barnard, female Confederate spy Mary Francis (Fanny) Battle, Confederate Brigadier General Buell (among many others) and dozens of famous sports figures, Congressmen, Senators and notable Nashville and Tennessee residents.

Located slightly southeast and minutes of downtown Nashville and just south of Shelby Bottoms Park and the Columbia riverbank, Mt. Olivet is easily accessible from Interstate Route 70 (State Routes 24 and 40) with access onto Route 24 (aka Lebanon Pike). Mt. Olivet's beautiful grounds are impossible to miss.

Staff at Mt. Olivet continue to offer residents, travelers, loved ones and grieving friends support, compassion and superlative service in their time of great need, which has made the historical cemetery a favorite among Nashville residents for generations.
