Renowned cemeteries in the region include the Lake View Cemetery in Seattle, named such for its stunning views of Lake Washington to the east.  Historical figures such as Princess Angeline, daughter of Chief Seattle, as well as modern popular culture icons Bruce and Brandon Lee are all laid to rest in this peaceful garden setting.  Another gravesite of a great artist, the quintessential American author Ernest Hemingway, can be found at the serene Ketchum Cemetery in Ketchum, Idaho.  Many other founding fathers and mothers of the northwestern United States are buried in cemeteries scattered throughout this breathtaking landscape.

Sierra Club founder and modern preservationist John Muir summed up the Northwest’s appeal best when, standing on top of Mount Rainer, he exclaimed, “I have lived a bully life.  I have done what I set out to do”.   Muir and many others have seen the exquisiteness of the region and felt a sense of oneness with nature, found only in the solitude of the Northwest.
