Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park and Mortuary, has been serving the needs of Los Angeles County, California residents since the early 1900s. The cemetery is considered small (just over 2 1/2 acres) by today's standards, but is one of the most tranquil and peaceful locations in the Los Angeles area that memorializes dignity, honor, love and respect. Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park created a memorial for veterans as well as a memorial commemorating the tragic events of September 11, 2001. The property, graced with palm trees and other California flora and fauna, remains bright beneath the nearly constant warmth and sunshine that Southern California is famous for. The cemetery grounds also offer a chapel, a funeral home and exquisitely manicured gardens and lawns through which visitors, family members and loved ones may stroll. Walking through Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park is like taking a step into history, presenting visitors with the opportunity to honor and pay their respects to many Los Angeles and Hollywood notables including Marilyn Monroe, Burt Lancaster, Dean Martin, Ray Bradbury and James Colburn, Farah Fawcett and Merv Griffin, just to name a few. While Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park may be considered small when placed beside many other sprawling cemetery grounds in nearby communities, there is no doubt that the cemetery grounds serves as a historical and cultural landmark in the Los Angeles area wreathed in the panoramic history of Hollywood and its surrounding environs. Open from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, the cemetery grounds offer continuous bursts of color through brilliant displays of floral arrangements and deep green lawns backed by deep California-blue skies throughout most of the year. Located just off Interstate 405 and north of Interstate 10 slightly south of the University of California at Los Angeles, and slightly east of the Los Angeles National Cemetery, Westwood Memorial Park may be accessed off of Santa Monica Boulevard or Wilshire Boulevard with a turnoff onto Westwood Boulevard. Nearby landmarks and attractions in Los Angeles offer visitors access to sightseeing, star gazing, a variety of hotel accommodations, fine dining or a simple trip to the beach, and easy access to the famous handprints imbedded in Hollywood Boulevard (Hollywood Walk of Fame) and in front of Grauman's Chinese theatre, a must-see for anyone in the area. |
