Situated in the peaceful suburb of East Hanover, New Jersey, Restland Memorial Park Association offers quiet solitude and natural beauty to all who enter its gates. A lush woodland setting and pristine lawns comprise the cemetery, which encompasses more than 100 acres. Founded in 1932 by the Dowd family, Restland Memorial is known as the city?s oldest memorial park and has been managed by CMS Mid-Atlantic Incorporated since 1997. At the centerpiece of Restland Memorial is a breathtaking chapel, constructed in 1937. This stone edifice is a replica of St. Giles Church at Stokes Pogis, England, which dates from the 12th century. Inside of this remarkable building are rows of hand carved pews and altar furnishings enclosed within its weathered stone walls. Hand crafted wrought iron and lovely stained glass windows make a visit to the chapel truly memorable. The town of East Hanover, defined by the intersection of the Whippany and Passaic Rivers, is a picturesque city full of history and charm. Although not officially incorporated as East Hanover until 1928, the Township of Hanover was named in 1720 after King George I of England. The region is steeped in the rich history of the Revolutionary War and the creation of the United States. In fact, George Washington and his troops often camped and marched through the area during as they battled the British for American independence.
