Sherwood Memorial Gardens is a member of the Dignity Memorial network of family cemetery and service providers. Located in Clayton County, staff at the Memorial Park has served the needs of Clayton County and surrounding community residents since the early 1950s. The property sits on what used to be a plantation edging up to the Flint River. During the Civil War, General Tecumseh Sherman camped on the property with his troops, and as an historic location, the area is one of the most beautiful in Clayton County and has long been respected and revered by Jonesboro residents. The cemetery property joined the Dignity Memorial network of funeral providers in 2006. The property encompasses nearly 50 acres of gently rolling hillsides covered with dogwoods, oak trees, and colorful azaleas. The grounds are well maintained and offer a striking focal point at the Garden of Christ Mausoleum. The property is a perpetual care and endowment property, so it will always be cared for. The Garden of Honor, an outdoor mausoleum and acres of beautiful landscaping offer options that meet families' specific, multicultural and multidenominational needs. Staff at the cemetery serves all backgrounds, cultures and faiths, offering mausoleum entombment, traditional burial and interment of cremated remains in the mausoleum's grounds or nearby grotto The mild Georgia weather offers nearly year-round color from floral arrangements, flowering trees, and the rich carpet of grass that covers the acreage. Originally founded in the late 1920s, Sherwood Memorial Park has since earned the loyalty and respect of area residents, and continues to do so into the 21st century. Sherwood Memorial Park and Mausoleum is located just north of downtown Jonesboro. Visitors may reach the property along State Road 19, or by taking the Interstate 75, which runs north and south, with a turnoff onto Tara Blvd. The cemetery property is located just west of Tara Blvd., south of Mount Zion Road. |
