Westminster Memorial Gardens is also known as Westminster Cemetery and Mausoleum. Located north of downtown Buffalo and Rochester, New York on the north shore of Lake Ontario in Canada, the cemetery property is situated in a rural community within minutes of the lake shore between the cities of Mississauga and Markham. The cemetery property is immense, a long, narrow swath of beautiful and well groomed grounds that encompass over a hundred acres, sharing property with Westminster-Branson and Beth Tzedec Memorial Park. Westminster Memorial Gardens itself is surrounded by thick groves of trees to the north and scattered trees to the south. Avenues reaching to all portions of the property offer easy access. Lush, green grass, mature trees and beautiful views are comforting to visitors and loved ones. A large mausoleum is also part of the property. Staff at Westminster Memorial Gardens offer a variety of options for grieving family members and loved ones, including traditional in-ground burial or cremation with mausoleum entombment. Sections of the cemetery are divided into blocks, and several of those sections offer niches for cremains, including the Serenity niche found in Block G. Westminster Memorial Gardens is a nondenominational cemetery founded in 1926. The property of Westminster Memorial Gardens proper encompasses nearly 50 acres of its own. The cemetery today is known for its compassionate staff and its mausoleum. The first mausoleum was built in the mid-1950s, with the more recent opening of the beautiful Light of Christ mausoleum. The most notable feature of the mausoleum is a large two-story entrance that features a waterfall. Stained-glass windows, beautiful statuary and well groomed grounds all seasons round grace visitors with a beautiful and serene location to memorialize their loved ones. Visitors can reach Westminster Memorial Gardens along a variety of Canadian freeways and toll routes, as it's located between Canadian Highway 401 or Macdonald Cartier Freeway and Highway 407, the Express Toll Route. Visitors may exit north or south on Bathurst Street. The cemetery property is located on the west side of Bathurst Street and is surrounded by parklands, and outdoor education centers and a large pond. |
