Since the mid-1960s, Windridge Memorial Park and Nature Sanctuary has offered a beautiful, serene and nature-friendly environment for the final interment and memorialization of loved ones. Before the property became a cemetery, a local family owned the acreage and used it as a private summer estate. Pine and deciduous trees that color in spring and fall surround the park-like atmosphere of the cemetery property, providing a sense of seclusion and privacy in this rural community. A lake with a waterfall is just one of the focal points of the cemetery. Green trees surround a mausoleum constructed of natural granite fieldstone, and natural settings are emphasized with flush-to-ground memorial plaques. The cemetery property is a home to many wildlife including wild turkeys, deer, and fox. In addition to traditional in-ground burial, Windridge Memorial Park staff offer cremation as well as a natural trail burials. Burial estates located in the Calendar of Flowers section sprout thousands of flowers that bloom most of the year. Most locations on the property have a view of Sanctuary Lake, while cremation estates are available on each side of the waterfall. Windridge Memorial Park offers green burials, so individuals may be buried along woodland trails. Those preferring above-ground interment may choose from a variety of locations in the mausoleum. Windridge Memorial Park also offers one of the areas most beautiful and comforting pet cemeteries, and staff at the property allows families to landscape private estate areas according to their own preferences. Located less than 40 miles northwest of downtown Chicago, Windridge Memorial Park has long served the town of Cary and surrounding area residents. Located in McHenry County, the cemetery is located approximately midway between Crystal Lake and Lake Zurich and on the western banks of Fox River, surrounded by Tower Lakes Fen Natural Preserve to the east and Bates Fen Natural Preserve to the north. |
